Here's that great Hanging Tree song from Mockingjay- Part 1

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 was pretty good. It's the best in a rough series and stands out due to some great decisions. But one of the clunkier ones was "The Hanging Tree." A song featured in the book, it was...

Review: The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1

The Hunger Games has come a long way. From humble meh-ish beginnings, to a sequel that, well, caught fire in theaters, the films have gotten increasingly better the more comfortable everyone gets with the material. Going into the latest, Mockingjay- Part 1 (which is based off half of the final text in the book trilogy), that upward trend certainly continues.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay- Part 1 is the pinnacle of the Hunger Games series. A payoff of two years of buildup that finally cements this series as the main example of how to do these Young Adult book adaptations. It may have taken a while to get to the peak, but the view is totally worth it.

Final trailer for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 photo
Final trailer for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1
by Nick Valdez

With the final trailer for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1, the awesome marketing this film has had comes to a close. From great propaganda style teasers and posters, to how few trailers for the film we actually got (usually we're told of like twenty of these videos a day, I'm going to miss Mockingjay. I'm sure the film'll be great too.

As the final book in The Hunger Games series, Mockingjay finally explored themes outside of its original (but not very unique) premise. The first half is definitely the best part, so I can't wait to see the results. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 has got that fire, fire, fire and it's gonna let it burn November 21st.

Here are some rebel character posters for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1

So these posters for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 (out November 21st) are neat as they finally show off Cressida (who manages all the propaganda in the book), but I DON'T KNOW WHO THE REST OF THESE PEOPLE ARE. Enjoy!  [via Wired]

District 13 character posters for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1

Have you been enjoying The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1's minimalist advertising campaign so far? I definitely am, but it seems like the uniqueness is done with. Now that we've gotten our first proper teaser, we're proba...

I'm loving the advertising campaign for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 so far. Continuing on with the minimalist teasers is the Comic-Con trailer which contains the first actual footage from the film. Not much is said, but a lot is teased. If I had one qualm about the footage, it's going to take me a bit to get used to Julianne Moore's hair/wig. But I hope that discomfort goes away since I'm still not used to looking at Lawrence's fake hair.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 releases November 21st. Here's the cool Comic-Con poster.

Second The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 teaser keeps the propaganda going

Continuing on with the awesome propaganda-like campaign, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 gives us another President Snow address. This time, however. He's joined by several surprising guests. Once again, this is both a...

First teaser for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 is cooler than you'd expect photo
First teaser for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 is cooler than you'd expect
by Nick Valdez

Rather than go for the conventional teaser trailer that we run on the site everyday, our first look at The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 is much better than I expected. A unique twist on the viral propaganda campaign the film has been running for the last few months, here we have a message from President Snow (Donald Sutherland) explaining why The Capitol is so important.

If you've read the books, you understand why Snow's with a certain guest in the video. If you haven't then you're going to have so many questions. A cool delivery with a teased mystery? That's the perfect way to make teaser trailers, folks. More please.

Expect a more conventional trailer to pop up soon given that we're five months away from the film's release. I liked Catching Fire enough, so I can't wait for more. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 releases November 21st.

Review: The Hunger Games: Catching Fire photo
Review: The Hunger Games: Catching Fire
by Nick Valdez

I'm a pretty big fan of The Hunger Games series of books. I tore through them in a day and while Catching Fire isn't my favorite in the series, it does have the most intriguing setups in the trilogy. The production for Catching Fire has notably gone through a bit of trouble with its change of directors (now helmed by Francis Lawrence), and most fans (including myself) were worried about the nature of the adaptation given the original Hunger Games film had a fair share of problems.

The trailers for Catching Fire showed a film that seemed to learn from its predecessor's mistakes (less shaky cam footage, more balanced use of color, Phillip Seymour Hoffman joined the cast), so does the final product hold up to the potential of the series? Is The Hunger Games: Catching Fire hotter than a fantasy or is it filled with catastrophe? Read on for the answer!

Final Trailer for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire photo
Final Trailer for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire
by Nick Valdez

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire already looks much better than its predecessor. It's got a nice mix of orange and blues, less shaky cam, Phillip Seymour Hoffman plays a bad guy, and Jennifer Lawrence is so hot right now. Now we have the final trailer for the film, and how does it look?

Well the same, really. It just spoils a lot of the film's bigger points from the book (but you wouldn't know that if you've only seen the movies, so that's probably cool). Basically, it's nice and short, but if you didn't want to see the film, the final trailer's not going to convince. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire sets the world on fire November 22nd.
