6 best TV series on Netflix

My favourite pastime activity ever is to binge-watch a captivating show or a hot premiere of the season, therefore I like to think about myself as a home-grown specialist on TV series. As usual, some of them are OK, others are completely boring, and then there are those spectacular productions that always leave you wanting more. Today, I bring you a list of the best – and my personal favourite – TV series on Netflix. Read on and enjoy!

Orange is the New Black

I was surprised to discover that Orange is the New Black was based on Piper Kerman's memoir about her experiences in prison, as I just can't imagine that some of the stories depicted in the show could happen in real life. OITNB is set in women's prison which resembles a self-sustaining microcosm. Full of chest-seizing moments and breathtaking cliffhangers, it is one-of-a kind TV production which gave me a lot to think about. Fun fact – it is the most rewatched TV series on Netflix!

Stranger Things

This year saw the most critically acclaimed Netflix premiere ever. On July 15 the platform released a pilot for Stranger Things, gripping TV series gracefully navigating between different genres and taking the best features from horror, sci-fi and mystery productions. The action is set in the 1980s and you can spot visual references to the works of Stephen Spielberg, Stephen King and Robert Zemeckis.

Mad Men

What I love about Mad Men is the attention to detail. The show is set in the 1960s and, as I imagine, authentically depicts the vibe of a successful and highly influential advertising agency. Although Netflix is doing its best to expand its reach worldwide, some places still do not have access to this platform. In countries such as China and North Korea watching Netflix through VPN is sometimes the only option, so if you want to see one of the most aesthetically pleasing TV series, but your country's policy limits access to Netflix, do try out VPNs and enjoy 7 beautiful seasons of Mad Men.

House of Cards

After winning presidential elections with his political party, Francis Underwood is furious when he does not get long-awaited promotion for the Secretary of State. Together with his equally manipulative wife he makes it his life's mission to get revenge on the people who betrayed him over the years. Starring Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright, this political drama is full of surprising intrigues and unpredictable twists and turns which make the series a definite must-see.

Narcos is a biographical TV series telling a life story of Pablo Escobar, infamous Colombian drug lord. Money, cocaine, love and passion blend together creating a unique TV production which surprised me with every episode. Narcos is told from perspective of DEA officer determined to capture Escobar and make him pay for his crimes. Does he succeed? You must see for yourself!

Black Mirror

Let's finish off with a bang – Black Mirror will grab your attention and heighten all your senses to the very last minute. Each episode of this production tells a different story revolving around unanticipated consequences of new technologies. It is a mixture of sci-fi, satire, horror, and drama which strips society to the bone and unveils its darkest secrets and desires.

There often is an awkward moment when you finish watching a great show, am I right? Luckily, with so many productions available through Netflix, you will always have something special to watch. If you have not seen the above 6
top-notch TV series, I recommend you give them all a try. You won't be disappointed.
