Trailer for The Penguins of Madagascar is all funny business

The Madagascar films never really stuck with me. They're okay to watch in passing, or to occupy the kids for a few minutes, but they're nothing special. That's why I'm surprised I laughed as much as I did with this trailer f...

Trailer for Mudbloods makes Quidditch awesome

Harry Potter has a huge, huge fandom. Spanning seven books, eight movies (possibly more soon), theme parks, and now a real sport based on the fantasy sport Quidditch. While I never liked the Quidditch sections of the story (...

Trailer for The Book of Life continues to look bueno

The Book of Life, produced by Guillermo Del Toro and directed by Jorge Gutierrez (who once created one of my favorite cartoons ever, El Tigre), looks absolutely stunning. I've completely fallen for this Die de Muertos film s...

If you read our review of the fantastic You're Next or saw the movie you know the guys behind it are fantastic at subverting our expectations of genres. That's why its awesome that they seem to be branching out with The...

Due to some unfortunate events, a digital copy of The Expendables 3 was leaked onto the Internet and was pirated more than 2 million times. Now Lionsgate is trying to sue the individuals responsible claiming that the piracy ...

Full length trailer for Birdman is just what the doctor ordered

Whoa. If Alejandro González Iñárritu’s Birdman can deliver on the promise of its trailers, I'm sure it'll be my movie of the year, hands down. Quirky, visually captivating, Michael Keaton playing a...

Trailer for The Maze Runner features mazes and people running through them

The Maze Runner has an idea I can get behind. Reminiscent of films like The Running Man, Runner drops these kids without memories into a secluded area and forces them to run through a giant maze filled with monsters. While i...

Comic-Con trailer for Sin City: A Dame to Kill For

Robert Rodriguez's recent work has been criticized for being more style over substance, and this trailer for Sin City: A Dame to Kill For showed off during San Diego Comic-Con isn't helping matters. While it plays like an ex...

First official trailer for The Spongebob Squarepants Movie: Sponge Out of Water

It's astonishing that Spongebob Squarepants has made it this long and still has a crazy fandom surrounding it. I remember when it first started as part of the new wave of Nicktoons as Rugrats and the like were growing up. Bu...

First trailer for Into the Woods

Isn't it always the case. You put images up and then a trailer drops almost completely destroying the use of those images. Such is the case with Into the Woods, which has its first trailer here. It looks great, but why does it almost completely ignore the fact that it's a musical? The trailers for Annie did this too. Are studios afraid that people won't show up for musicals?

First teaser trailer for Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb

While I've never been drawn to the Night at the Museum series myself, I know a lot of people who enjoy them. They're a harmless set of films where Robin Williams gets to dress as a convincing Teddy Roosevelt, and there are a...

Comic-Con trailer for Interstellar

With Matthew McConaughey's recent upswing, I've been more inclined to pay attention to his projects. One such project is Christopher Nolan's Interstellar. A science fiction film about wormholes and future corn, who knows wha...

First trailer for Horns, starring Daniel Radcliffe

Daniel Radcliffe's career has been in a bit of a flux in his post-Potter days. In what seemingly seems like Radcliffe searching for that one role that'll truly showcase his talents, he's been in several offbeat projects that...

First official trailer for Kevin Smith's Tusk

Regardless of our opinions on Kevin Smith here at Flixist, we always seem to find ourselves talking about him. It's because he's managed to turn his few successes into a huge marketing juggernaut with the "Askewniverse," pod...

First official trailer for The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies

I love how they're claiming The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies is "The Defining Chapter" in the story since the book itself is only a fraction of all of this. In what is most likely the most bloated title of the serie...

Comic-Con trailer for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1

I'm loving the advertising campaign for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 so far. Continuing on with the minimalist teasers is the Comic-Con trailer which contains the first actual footage from the film. Not much is said...

First trailer for Fifty Shades of Grey photo
First trailer for Fifty Shades of Grey
by Nick Valdez

So, here we are. Although Fifty Shades of Grey will never be the movie you want (but if you wanted straight porn, it's out there already), I can promise this trailer at least captures the tone of your favorite romance/pornography series. Starring Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan as two attractive people in a boy meets frumpy girl, tells her she's not frumpy, and then goes all S&M on her for three books kind of story.

Fifty Shades of Grey climaxes Valentine's Day 2015.
