Darren Aronofsky courted for two new projectsDarren Aronofsky, director of the recent Black Swan, has reportedly been asked by Disney (what?) and Warner Bros. to direct their upcoming films Maleficant (what?) and Moses respectively. I'm not quite sure why Disney is asking the director of Requiem for a Dream to make anything for them... but maybe they're trying to appeal to a more disturbed demographic. Anyway, so the film, which once had Tim Burton attached to it, is about that evil witch from Sleeping Beauty that they made a Broadway musical about. It doesn't really sound like an Aronofsky project, but if he gets behind it I'd definitely get behind him. As for Moses... well it's about Moses. The film tells the story of the Exodus, when Moses and his friends all got lost in the desert. I'd also say this doesn't seem like an Aronofsky film, but he has actually been planning on making a film/comic book about Noah (which Flixist reported on in February) for a long time. Looking at the images and details of that project, perhaps a film of his based on the story of Moses could be really awesome. Whether or not he'll go for either of these projects remains to be seen, but he could do a shot-for-shot remake of Superbabies: Baby Geniuses 2, and I'd see it anyway. One way or another, here's hoping he chooses something soon, because he's an amazing director, and everything he touches is gold. [Via Badass Digest] Did you know?
