Darren Aronofsky courted for two new projects

Darren Aronofsky courted for two new projects photo

Darren Aronofsky, director of the recent Black Swan, has reportedly been asked by Disney (what?) and Warner Bros. to direct their upcoming films Maleficant (what?) and Moses respectively. I'm not quite sure why Disney is asking the director of Requiem for a Dream to make anything for them... but maybe they're trying to appeal to a more disturbed demographic. Anyway, so the film, which once had Tim Burton attached to it, is about that evil witch from Sleeping Beauty that they made a Broadway musical about. It doesn't really sound like an Aronofsky project, but if he gets behind it I'd definitely get behind him. As for Moses... well it's about Moses. The film tells the story of the Exodus, when Moses and his friends all got lost in the desert. I'd also say this doesn't seem like an Aronofsky film, but he has actually been planning on making a film/comic book about Noah (which Flixist reported on in February) for a long time. Looking at the images and details of that project, perhaps a film of his based on the story of Moses could be really awesome.

Whether or not he'll go for either of these projects remains to be seen, but he could do a shot-for-shot remake of Superbabies: Baby Geniuses 2, and I'd see it anyway. One way or another, here's hoping he chooses something soon, because he's an amazing director, and everything he touches is gold.

What i wanna see is Aranofski make a live action version of the 1955 Disney classic Lady and the Tramp and explore some of the things glossed over in the animation, such as Tramp's dark past (the dog reeks of daddy issues) and Lady's struggle with her morphine addiction!

As cool as it is to be one of the first people to see the next thing by established filmmakers at film festivals, it's the new stuff that's really exciting. Debuts are rarely the most polished or effective efforts, but they s...

Catch a glimpse of the ark being constructed for 'Noah'

It looks like Darren Aronofsky is going all out for his Biblical epic Noah, at least if photographer Dan Wagner's pictures are anything to go by. It's hard to judge scale initially, but going by Wagner's reaction it must be p...

New info & set photo from Darren Aronofsky's Noah

There's some new info about Darren Aronofsky's Noah, and it's sounding less like the Biblical tale and more like a harsh pre-apocalyptic epic. The Film Stage reports that the movie might focus more on the world before the gre...

Schreiber, Moore, and Watson in talks to sexify Noah

Darren Aronofsky is easily one of my favorite directors, so Noah is easily one of my most anticipated films of 2014. We know that Russell Crowe will be playing the title character, and some other, less-interesting castin...
