Feast your eyes on Thorin Oakenshield and OrcristWell, here's the final dwarf from The Hobbit that you all may or may not be clamoring to see: Richard Armitage as Thorin Oakenshield, wielding the famous blade Orcrist.Thorin is the head of the gang of dwarves seeking the treasures of the Lonely Mountain, wanting to reclaim his ancestral fortune and kingdom from the dragon Smaug. You can look at Thorin and his goblin cleaver in the gallery below. Now that we've seen all of the dwarves from the film one thing is obvious: Peter Jackson, and also J.R.R. Tolkein, is a racist. I didn't see a single dwarf of color, nor do I remember anything other than lily white faces and lilier whiter elf faces from Lord of the Rings. I mean, come on! This isn't 1930 anymore, people! There's room in our fiction for all different kinds of people. I swear, this is Avatar all over again. Not the bad one, though, the worse one. Where they turned all the Asians and Inuits into Whitey. Just sickens me, all this racism. [Via The One Ring] Did you know? You can now get daily or weekly email notifications when humans reply to your comments.
