Flix for Short: Labrador and CharmerI've been a big fan of Aimee Mann since the late '90s after a chance encounter with the song "I Should've Known." With the year winding down, I figured it's a good time to highlight two music videos from her new album Charmer. Above is the video for "Labrador," featuring Jon Hamm and Jon Wurster. It's a shot-for-shot remake of the music video for "Voices Carry" by 'Til Tuesday (Mann's band in the 1980s). After the cut is the music video for "Charmer," featuring Laura Linney and John Hodgman. Both music videos were directed by Tom Scharpling, former editor for The Onion, writer and producer on the show Monk, and host of The Best Show on WFMU. Scharpling has also directed videos for The New Pornographers, Ted Leo and the Pharmacists, and Wild Flag. (Fun fact: I was a background extra in the video for "Bottled in Cork" by Ted Leo and the Pharmacists.) Head down under for "Charmer." As a bonus, I've also included the video for "Voices Carry." "Charmer" by Aimee Mann "Voices Carry" by 'Til Tuesday Did you know? You can now get daily or weekly email notifications when humans reply to your comments.
