Memorize, written and directed by Eric Ramberg and Jimmy Eriksson (who also stars in the film), is a short film that takes place in the year 2027 where everyone now has a chip planted in them that records things (sort of like a mix of Ender's Game and Minority Report). The Special Surveillance Unit monitors the chips and uses the footage to help take a bite out of crime.
While the look and premise of Memorize is certainly appealing, I can't shake the feeling I've seen it before. It reminds me too much of Dredd. Maybe because it was a single man fighting crime, maybe it was his gun or the way he holds it, or maybe it just was the overall "f*** cops" mentality. Still, can't knock Memorize too much. It accomplishes a great deal from a few people. It's worth a view for the production values alone.
