Justin Lin off Terminator 5...for nowTerminator fans, be ready to be a bit sad. After negotiating for some time, Fast Five director Justin Lin is no longer in line to direct the fifth installment in the Terminator series, heralded as the return of Arnold Schwarzenegger to the franchise that made him a superstar. This isn't the usual "emerging director has big ego, blows off obvious great job" story, though. Lin has departed from the film as it would conflict with his schedule for a sixth Fast and the Furious movie, and he expressed his desire to direct the film if it is still available once he is finished wrapping that. I do hope Lin gets his shot at Terminator. The franchise is dead in the water after one mediocre movie, one television series cancelled too early, and another godawful bad movie. If anyone's interested, Max and I could write you up a script for Robocop vs. Terminator: Best Friends...Except to Crime! in about half an hour. [Via Deadline] Did you know?
