Martin Campbell won't direct a Green Lantern sequel

Not surprisingly, sequels to the upcoming Green Lantern are already underway, as Warner Brothers scrambles to improve the DC Comics film franchises. However, director Martin Campbell, formerly of Goldeneye,Casino Royale, and wonderful The Mask of Zorro, confirmed that he will not be returning to direct the next Green Lantern film. Collider notes that, in previous circumstances where directing a part of a franchise, Campbell has not proved to be the sort of director that would stay on to do a couple sequels in a row. More power to him.

Some might consider this a warning sign of the film's quality, or at least the notion that, given the massive amount of post-production work still being done, perhaps the filming experience wasn't pleasant for Campbell. Again, it's important to note that he's not a "sit around and direct the franchise for a while" kind of guy. So now the speculation of Green Lantern 2 begins, I guess.

I predict that Green Lantern 2 will have a DIFFERENT director! Probably another human being on this planet.

Eventually I'll get to reading Alexandre Dumas's The Count of Monte Cristo. Eventually. In fact, I'm looking at my good, cheap 880-page Wordsworth Classics copy of it right now and I'm thinking, "Yup, I'd love to read this......
