Matthew Vaughn outed as new Star Wars director... maybeAn onslaught of Star Wars news came out once George Lucas and Disney struck their multi-billion dollar deal for the future of the popular franchise. Three sequels have been confirmed, followed by news on the screenwriters attached to them. However, the most intriguing information not yet divulged is who will direct the films. Last month, Matthew Vaughn dropped out of directing X-Men: Days of Future Past under mysterious circumstances. Rumors swirled that his departure meant he'd be taking the helm of the next Star Wars film. Of course, nothing was confirmed nor was there evidence that this was anything but a coincidence. However, a HeyUGuys interview with frequent Vaughn collaborator Jason Flemyng (X-Men: First Class) may have confirmed that Vaughn is directing Episode VII. In the video after the cut, Flemyng mentions his assurance of a background role in the upcoming sequel. When asked about Vaughn directing, he realizes his slip and backtracks slightly. What an interesting development. Did you know? You can now get daily or weekly email notifications when humans reply to your comments.
