New Releases, week of 8/23/2011: POM Wonderful edition

POM Wonderful is delicious. I first discovered its delightful, pomegranate flavor back when I worked at Gamestop. My pretentious, Swedish d-bag of an assistant manager drank it all the time (the perks of that sweet, sweet ASM paycheck) and he let me try some once. It's only grown on me since. Imagine my delight when they showed up in the title spot in POM Wonderful Presents: The Greatest Movie Ever Sold, Morgan Spurlock's latest film, a documentary about making a documentary funded solely by product placement. Once POM signed on, every other beverage throughout the film was blurred out. POM Wonderful Presents: The Greatest Movie Ever Sold is a great movie, and happens to be the only big release this week I've seen (so far).

However, the other three big releases, Trollhunter, The Beaver, and Win Win all top my list of movies I want to see. Needless to say, I'll be cash poor by the end of the week.

Not much else jumps out this week, unless you love to marathon bad Disney sequels (like my girlfriend), because Bambi II is finally on Blu-ray. Thank God.

As always, the full list of releases is after the jump, and lemme know what you're picking up this week and if there's anything I didn't mention that is worth checking out!

Sean Walsh has been a fan of movies ever since he can remember. His father assures him that he wept when Optimus Prime died in the original movie, but seeing as how Sean was less than a year old... more   |   staff directory
