NYAFF Special Screening: Iron Monkey
[For the month of July, we will be covering the New York Asian Film Festival and the (also New York-based) Japan Cuts Film Festival, which together form one of the largest showcases of Asian cinema in the world. For our NYAFF coverage, head over here. For Japan Cuts, here.] Donnie Yen is in town for the New York Asian Film Festival, and he'll be in attendance at screenings of Kill Zone (SPL: Sha Po Lang), The Lost Bladesman, and Dragon (Wuxia). Tickets are hard to come by for those screenings at Lincoln Center, but the NYAFF has added an additional off-site screening of Iron Monkey at the IFC Center on Sunday, July 8th at 10:30 PM. Donnie Yen will be there. If you're like me, Iron Monkey was basically the movie where Donnie Yen made his first of many big impressions. This is a great chance to see a 35mm print of the film with the badass dad of Wong Fei-Hung right there with you. Look for a restrospective review of Kill Zone tomorrow, our review of Dragon in the near future, and our review of The Lost Bladesman next week. We'll also have an interview with Donnie Yen next week, so stay tuned for that. [Iron Monkey will be screening at IFC Center Sunday, July 8th at 10:30 PM. Donnie Yen will be in attendance.] Did you know? You can now get daily or weekly email notifications when humans reply to your comments.
