Oh, hey, David Twohy's Riddick has a release date! photo

'Twas a week before Christmas and all through the 'net...something, something. I got nothin'. But that's okay because like some sort of Christmas angel (Jesus?), I come with bearing a gift that's way better than mir or frankencense. And the best part? I'm not even going to make you wait until Christmas! Courtesy of JoBlo, we now have a release date for Vin Diesel's opus, Riddick! Universal announced that the film will be comin' atcha (in IMAX, even!) on September 6th, 2013!

Diesel had this to say on his Facebook fan page:

Our page has been up for over three years... Before FB knew what a million fans was... you pioneers of social media were chanting for the next chapter. So for me, it is surreal to look back at some of the older posts, and the comments that followed. Even the discussion boards... haha, I remember a great thread one of you created comparing biblical characters to the Furyan. The art work you have created over the years... you made it happen. September 6th 2013 You really do inspire me... and your voice is manifesting, what you want to see... and yeah, that's cool. P.s. I know, I am talking too much... but I am proud of you..."

Vin Diesel's nothing if not passionate, and that is something that has always made me excited about his passion project. He also makes Facebook posts like my father. In case you forgot what's in store for the badass who can see in the dark, you can check out the synopsis below. In any event, I am pumped for September 6th and I hope you are too!

The infamous Riddick has been left for dead on a sun-scorched planet that appears to be lifeless. Soon, however, he finds himself fighting for survival against alien predators more lethal than any human he’s encountered. The only way off is for Riddick to activate an emergency beacon and alert mercenaries who rapidly descend to the planet in search of their bounty. The first ship to arrive carries a new breed of merc, more lethal and violent, while the second is captained by a man whose pursuit of Riddick is more personal. With time running out and a storm on the horizon that no one could survive, his hunters won’t leave the planet without Riddick’s head as their trophy.
