Ridiculously expensive Harry Potter books chronicle films

9:00 AM on 11.27.2012

We're all set to assume that for some Harry Potter fans $1,000 is chump change for a limited edition set of eight books that chronicle the characters move from the written word to the big screen. There are definitely people out there who will see a scaled model of The Monster Book of Monsters and think, "Hell, I'd pay $1,000 for that alone." Thankfully for the rest of us there's Amazon who has the book collection on sale for just $600.

Yes, for only $600 (and that's probably only good for this week) you can be the owner of eight separate books (full list below) collected together in a special Harry Potter container thing. There are only 3,000 being made in the entire world so this is legitimately a collectors item, and one of the books is a special edition that you'll never be able to get again. The rest feature a bunch of content never before seen. This is actually quite a cool collectors item for anyone that can afford to lay down that kind of money. For those that can't we can just look at the pictures.

Peter Cushing is an icon, instantly recognizable for his angular face and his precise elocution. He's best known for his Hammer roles as Dr. Frankenstein and Van Helsing, as well as playing Grand Moff Tarkin in Star Wars. He'...

4 classic books that deserve the Baz Luhrmann treatment

With Baz Luhrmann's The Great Gatsby adaptation releasing tomorrow in all of its big, loud, and (most likely) stupid glory. I figure it'd be a good time to go through a list of books that would benefit from the same...

I took a bullet for all of you. Tonight (or last night depending on when you see this) I watched through the MTV Movie Awards (and its multiple Ted nominations for some reason) just so I could grab this teaser for all of you...

Trailer: The Great Gatsby

Like the other trailers before it, this newest trailer for The Great Gatsby worries me quite a bit as, once again, we get a focus on the spectacle of the original material rather than the subtleties underneath (other than th...

Maggie Q and Zoe Kravitz join the cast of Divergent

Now that Twilight is fading into the obscure and Hunger Games is a beast all of its own, it's time for a new series of films to fill that tweensie void. And that series is Divergent. I talked about this awhile back explaining...

Trailer: Much Ado About Nothing

After director Joss Whedon's mega block-buster The Avengers last year, he decided to tone it down a bit for his next project. It's a bit of a palate cleanser - Much Ado About Nothing is an adaption of the classic Shakespeare...
