Sony grabs the rights to continue distributing Bond filmsJames Bond is a money making machine. Even his bad movies bring in bank, and it is because of this that the distribution rights for Bond films are highly sought after. For the past two films, Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace, Sony had handled the distribution, but after MGM's financial troubles the distributor for the 23rd Bond film was up in the air. That is until now as Sony has announced (we're guessing with a sigh of relief) that they will be the distributor for Bond 23. The news was announced via press release by MGM and Sony yesterday and the two companies have given a November 9, 2012 release date for the film, which adds more credence to Judi Dench saying shooting will begin this November. The contract also has Sony distributing and co-financing the 24th Bond movie at a later date. Good news all around for the people at Sony who like to make money as they beat out some fierce competition to get the rights back. I highly doubt that this will affect the film itself at all, but it's nice to know that Sony's clout and cash will be behind Bond once again. [via EW] Did you know?
