A board member on the action figure-themed Japanese forum ACToys has gotten their hands on the new TMNT action figures. And boy, do they look awful! Even by the standards of movie figures, these look pretty sub-par. As Flixis...

Here's an awesomely adorable LEGO Movie blooper reel

It's been a week now since I've seen The LEGO Movie (and reviewed it!), and I still can't get it out of my head. Everything is still awesome, I want a double decker couch, and my friends and I have been quoting Lego Batman l...

Review: The LEGO Movie photo
Review: The LEGO Movie
by Nick Valdez

Since its first delightful teaser over a year ago, I have been eagerly anticipating The LEGO Movie more so than any other movie releasing in 2014. I was instantly drawn to the idea of seeing the very Lego sets I played with as a kid (and still play with on occasion) recreated in a loving stop motion/CG film. I'm just not quite sure why I was so excited in the first place. Is it nostalgia or some kind of attempt to rekindle my lost childhood? Now that I've grown up, should I completely forget things that once made me happy in order to fit in with the professional world?

Wait, am I really thinking about all of this? It's The LEGO Movie we're talking about here! Strange thing is, The LEGO Movie actually builds on these philosophical dilemmas in an intelligent, wacky, and surprisingly sophisticated manner.

So yeah, everything is awesome.

Super Bowl TV spot for Transformers: Age of Extinction photo
Super Bowl TV spot for Transformers: Age of Extinction
by Nick Valdez

Folks, this might be the Transformers movie we've all been waiting for. While this official Super Bowl spot is short, it gives us more information than we can handle. In fact, this looks like a completely different series. Gone are the Labeoufs, random hot girl poses, and military action, and here in its place is the lovable (and more action oriented) Mark Wahlberg, a girl who plays his daughter instead of love interest, oh and DINOBOTS.

Yes the dinosaur robots rumored and teased for the better half of a year have finally been revealed. AND OPTIMUS PRIME RIDES A TYRANNOSAURUS REX. It all looks so good, I'm willing to forgive the other films and look at this from a positive angle from now on. It just looks fun. Transformers: Age of Extinction rolls out June 27th.

Lego to officially release Ghostbusters set photo
Lego to officially release Ghostbusters set
by Nick Valdez

Joining the recently (and awesomely) announced The Simpsons licensed set, Brent Waller's Ghostbusters CUUSOO project (a site where artists can pitch ideas to be made into real sets much like the Back to the Future set released some time ago) has been greenlit and will officially go into production to celebrate the film's 30th anniversary.

Although the final model of the Ecto-1 (complete with Peter, Egon, Winston, Ray, and Slimer) won't be the same as the CUUSOO project, it's still going to be great consolation prize considering we'll never get a third movie. But Legos are super cool, so I'm very excited about this.

Fox bringing Magic: The Gathering card game to big screen photo
Fox bringing Magic: The Gathering card game to big screen
by Matthew Razak

Being an ex-Magic: The Gathering player I can tell you that its best element is its deep and intrinsic plot. No, seriously, there's a pretty impressive world created behind the card game that you can dive into, it's just not what most people see. The fact that story isn't at the forefront of the brand won't stop Fox from making a movie about it, though, as they've wrapped up the film rights to the card game.

Simon Kinberg, who runs X-Men and Fantastic Four for the studio, will be producing with an eye to turn the property into an epic franchise with multiple movies. This is clearly a play to capitalize off the success of not only "toy" movies, but also find a replacement fantasy series once Hollywood has exhausted Lord of the Rings (if they do let that die after The Hobbit). With work getting underway pretty quickly on the project we'll probably still see World of Warcraft hit theaters first, which could still some thunder.

The real question is how many card quotes (or flavor texts, as they're known) can they cram into the movie? I always liked this one.

First full trailer for The LEGO Movie photo
First full trailer for The LEGO Movie
by Nick Valdez

After the first teaser showed Ninja Turtles interacting with DC superheroes like only LEGO can, we've been all waiting for a better and more filling look of The LEGO Movie. It's got a style that's instantly grabbing, the voice cast is made of good actors and actresses (like Chris Pratt and Morgan Freeman), and LEGO's a big property, so I expect good things from it. Or I just plan to be charmed the whole time. Either's good.

At the very least, this first full trailer for The LEGO Movie shows so much promise and character. Just hearing Arnett's lethargic Batman and Chris Pratt's hyperpositive Emmet try to save the world from President Business looks just amazing (and animated wonderfully!). The LEGO Movie builds a home in theaters February 7th next year.

What the heck is this? photo
What the heck is this?
by Matthew Razak

So this showed up in the mail yesterday as part of a promotion for an upcoming movie. What is it? It's a rat, I think. Its name is Subway Sammy and it talks when you push its stomach. So what movie is it from? That's where the contest comes in.

If you live in the continental United States or Canada you could win this large, overall-clad rat. All you have to do is give a guess as to what upcoming movie it is from. You'll have until Friday (6/21) to enter your guesses and then we'll select from the correct answers a big winner. Just leave your guess in the comments below and you could be the proud owner of this really random marketing thing, which I have kindly kept in the bag to keep it pure.
