Teaser Trailer: Upstream Color

8:00 PM on 12.13.2012

There's a new teaser trailer out for Upstream Color, the long-awaited second film from Shane Carruth, writer/director of Primer. Like the first teaser trailer, this new one is incredibly cryptic, though it highlights the central relationship on the film rather than the extreme sense of unease.

Here's that synopsis again for Upstream Color:

A man and woman are drawn together, entangled in the lifecycle of an ageless organism. Identity becomes an illusion as they struggle to assemble the loose fragments of wrecked lives.

Already one of my most anticipated films of 2013, Upstream Color will debut at the Sundance Film Festival and will then be released on April 5th.

New World War Z poster isn't even trying anymore

World War Z with Brad Pitt is pretty much DOA. We know, for instance, that the bloated, unfaithful, neutered (it's a bloodless PG-13) adaptation of the Max Brooks book will need to make $400 million just to break even, and th...

Jim Jarmusch on his vampire movie Only Lovers Left Alive

I'm a fan of Jim Jarmusch's movies. He has a weird way of turning moments of boredom into something complicated and interesting, as seen in Stranger Than Paradise, Down by Law, Night on Earth, and Mystery Train. He's also cap...

If the great reviews and Hubes's stellar interview with the directors of V/H/S/2 during its Tribeca run didn't whet your appetite for a horror anthology, then maybe this trailer will fix that. The first V/H/S, now avail...

ABCs of Death 2 is in the works

The ABCs of Death was an interesting experiment as far as anthology horror movies go. Despite some great entries by Marcel Sarmiento (D is for Dogfight), Xavier Gens (X is for XXL), and Lee Hardcastle (T is for Toilet), the f...

Tribeca Interview: The directors of V/H/S/2

It's odd how things work. The day after I wrote a very negative review about a found footage movie I didn't like, I wound up interviewing four of the directors responsible for V/H/S/2, a found footage movie that I did like. G...

Teaser Trailer: [REC] 4: Apocalypse

I've felt that the [REC] series has been a case of diminishing returns. I really liked the first one, thought the second one was good but had an issue with the break in tension midway through, and, well, then there was a thi...
