This may be the time machine in Rian Johnson's Looper

Looper is one of the many movies we're eager to see in 2012. To ring in the new year, writer-director Rian Johnson posted a picture of himself in what may be the Looper time machine. If it's not that, he may have purchased the pod from Innerspace, which would be kind of awesome too. It's been a while since we last mentioned Looper, but there will be more to come as the September 28 release date approaches.

Starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Bruce Willis, and Emily Blunt, the film concerns hired killers called Loopers who work for the mob in the future. The mob sends people back in time so the Loopers can kill them and dispose of the bodies. Sounds clean and simple until a Looper (Gordon-Levitt) recognizes one of his victims (Willis) as himself from the future. Time travelarity ensues.

We have an embiggened version of the machine pic in the gallery. Feel free to check out the official Looper tumblr for many more set photos and goodies.
