Trailer: After Earth

7:00 PM on 12.10.2012

I don't even know where to start with a movie directed by M. Night Shyamalan. The fact that he's still even making movies is kind of mind boggling. Could this be his redemption? Eh, probably not. The trailer seems interesting enough, but I wonder if it's misleading in how much screen time will be given to Will Smith. Personally, I don't think I'd be able to sit through a film that stars only Jaden Smith, so it's understandable to think the studio is going to plaster his father all over the trailer, even if he's only barely in the movie. Of course, I could be wrong and Will Smith is in the film just as much as his son. I've just gotten in the habit of assuming the worst when it comes to Shyamalan.

Here's the synopsis, and if you feel like Shyamalan 'The Great Betrayer' deserves another chance, After Earth will hit theaters June 7, 2013.

One thousand years after cataclysmic events forced humanity’s escape from Earth, Nova Prime has become mankind’s new home. Legendary General Cypher Raige (Will Smith) returns from an extended tour of duty to his estranged family, ready to be a father to his 13-year-old son, Kitai (Jaden Smith). When an asteroid storm damages Cypher and Kitai’s craft, they crash-land on a now unfamiliar and dangerous Earth. As his father lies dying in the cockpit, Kitai must trek across the hostile terrain to recover their rescue beacon. His whole life, Kitai has wanted nothing more than to be a soldier like his father. Today, he gets his chance.

Trailer: After Earth

Part of me wants to make fun of this trailer because of Will and Jaden Smith's nonsensical indiscriminate accents, weird looking CG, and that it's an M. Night Shawarma flick, but for some reason, most of me is intrigued by A...

The Smith boys suffer lapse in judgement with Shyamalan

Considering how badly his last three movies bombed, critically and financially, I'm utterly shocked that movie studios are still giving M. Night Shyamalan money to make crappy movies. Despite an overwhelming abundance of evid...
