Trailer: Chronicle

8:00 AM on 02.02.2012

The headline for this story should read: "Final Chronicle trailer comes out, is an awful piece of crap." Seriously. I don't get it. The previous trailers for Chronicle - the "found" footage backyard superhero movie - are pretty decent. I don't understand why anyone thought that having thumping club music in the background of relatively spoilery clips with a downright awfully mixed bit of dialogue at the end would fit in with the tone of all the other advertising they've done for the movie, let alone actually make a good trailer.

The worst part is, this is the final trailer before the movie comes out this Friday. THIS is what is supposed to finally convince anyone who's been on the edge as to whether or not to go see this movie?! Come on. It's really bad.

Now if memory serves, this TV spot for The Lone Ranger marked the transition from normal commercials to Super Bowl commercials. It was a long spot, essentially a trailer for people watching on TV, and you know what? It doesn...

Review: Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters

I like it when a movie skews the usual perspective of a concept, genre, or an idea that the general public feels to be a certain way. Remember growing up and reading fairy tales like“Hansel and Gretel"? Did you ever bel...

Mud stars Matthew McConaughey as he tells stories to young children. Then bounty hunters show up, and those stories seem more like reality. I may have over-simplified the premise, but I'm intrigued by the fact that I can do ...
