About
Nick Valdez likes chick flicks, kid flicks, dick flicks, and skin flicks. Also musicals (Glee!). One time, he wrote a 15 page thesis on the training montage's effect on the hero's journey in Rocky. His favorite film is Zoolander or Machete. If he could mix the two and create Zoochete, he would in a heartbeat. One day he wishes to travel across the United States "David Banner" style while dragging around a player piano or that orangutan from Every Which Way But Loose.

Here's that great Hanging Tree song from Mockingjay- Part 1

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 was pretty good. It's the best in a rough series and stands out due to some great decisions. But one of the clunkier ones was "The Hanging Tree." A song featured in the book, it was...

Final Trailer for Rogen and Goldberg's The Interview

I've been worried how Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg were possibly going to follow up This is the End, hands down one of the best films of 2013, after their recently produced effort Neighbors showed quite a few cracks in their...

First trailer for animated Lucasfilm, Strange Magic

Now here's something that came out of absolutely nowhere. This must've been buried under all of that Star Wars after Disney acquired Lucasfilm, but apparently, Strange Magic is an animated film inspired by a story from Georg...

Oscar Isaac is X-Men: Apocalypse's...Apocalypse

Oscar Isaac truly is a renaissance man. He's one of the few actors I can take seriously in anything he chooses. In fact if he decided to don a fat suit and fart for three hours in his next film, I'd still see it six times. Bu...

Wonder Woman movie nabs director Michelle MacLaren

We're going to get so many superhero films the rest of this decade I say we just pay attention to the ones with enough unique bits to stand out. Chief among these is Warner Bros' eventual take on Wonder Woman. After our most ...

Box Office Numbers: This Girl is Still On Fire

Holy sh*t you all. When you watch as many movies as I do, you totally forget how popular some of them are. Completely obliterating every other film for the past few weeks, Mockingjay- Part 1 earned $123 million dollars. Holy ...

Review: The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1

The Hunger Games has come a long way. From humble meh-ish beginnings, to a sequel that, well, caught fire in theaters, the films have gotten increasingly better the more comfortable everyone gets with the material. Going into...

First official trailer for Pitch Perfect 2

I once wrote an article on why making a sequel to Pitch Perfect, one of the most charming films of 2012, was a bad idea. The first is kind of dumb, Glee isn't the juggernaut it was a few years ago, but through all of that, I...

First full trailer for Escobar: Paradise Lost

I'd developed a taste for drug stories growing up, and Pablo Escobar was the subject of a majority of them. A Columbian cocaine juggernaut in the 80s-90s (who most likely inspired the "Columbian drug lord" trope in films tod...

First official trailer for Project Almanac

We've been hearing rumblings of the Michael Bay produced Project Almanac for awhile now. Once titled Welcome to Yesterday, the film is about a bunch of kids futzing around with a time machine leading to all sorts of wacky sh...

First full trailer for Disney's live action Cinderella

Cinderelly, Cinderelly, look what they've done to you, Cinderelly. But seriously, this is the one live action adaptation I don't understand. It's going to make oodles of money sure, those glass slippers look damn good (but t...

Flixgiving: Five Movies Nick is Thankful For

This time of year always has me thinking about how great life is. Sure it's not the best, but to breathe, eat, love, and squat every day is truly an invisible blessing. I also start thinking about how great movies are, and I'...

First trailer for The Cobbler, starring Adam Sandler

Adam Sandler signs on for so many films for the money, it's hard to parse whether or not he's in that one winning film he gets every couple of years. It's clear that he's got talent, but it's a shame to see him go down such ...

It seems Dumb and Dumber To performed better than I expected despite it not being very good. Taking first place with $38 million, it seems curiosity over the twenty years in development sequel won the day. Big Hero 6 took sec...

Newest trailer for Fifty Shades of Grey will see you now

Review: Dumb and Dumber To

Twenty years is a long, long time. I was five years old when Dumb and Dumber first hit theaters in 1994, so the madcap antics of Harry and Lloyd appealed to me. Fart jokes, sex jokes I was not yet old enough to comprehend com...

Netflix Now: Taylor Swift is Still My Boo Edition

It seems we've come full circle. One of the first Netflix Now articles I ever wrote was "Taylor Swift is My Boo," and I'm glad I get to mention her here again. Her latest album, 1989, released a bit back and it's pretty good....

I've reached a crossroads. Writing so much about the Fast and the Furious franchise makes me feel like such a hypocrite. Take the first trailer for Furious 7, for instance. Here I am celebrating a series' seventh installment ...
