About
Nick Valdez likes musicals. He once wrote a 15 page thesis on the training montage's effect on the hero's journey in Rocky. His favorite film is Zoolander or Machete. If he could mix the two and create Zoochete, he would in a heartbeat. One day he wishes to travel across the United States "David Banner" style while dragging around a player piano or that orangutan from Every Which Way But Loose.

Review: Get Hard

The worst criticism a film can get is "harmless." When a film is just "harmless," it's stale, voiceless, and generally fails to make a lasting impression. A harmless film exists, takes 90-100 minutes of your life, and then yo...

First trailer for Southpaw starring Jake Gyllenhaal

After Enemy and Nightcrawler, I've been really looking forward to what Jake Gyllenhaal would do next. Thankfully the wait looks completely worth it with this first trailer for Southpaw. Directed by Antoine Fuqua (Training Da...

Key and Peele's Substitute Teacher sketch becoming a full film

Jayquellan! Balakey! De-nice! A. A. Ron! O Shag Henessy! Films come out of the weirdest places these days, but when their source is one of the most watched Key & Peele sketches it all makes sense. According to Deadline, ...

Watch Tom Hanks recreate most of his films in under 7 minutes

With James Corden taking over The Late Late Show after Craig Ferguson, he sure had to start off with a bang because only a few people really know who he is. His first big guest was Tom Hanks, and Hanks did way more that sit ...

Review: Dead Rising: Watchtower

Videogames have had a rough time in cinema. Since videogames are such an interactive medium, a film adaptation always misses out on the intimacy of player involvement or the videogame's story struggles to find an identity in ...

These Zoolander 2 images are so hot right now

I know comedy sequels aren't the greatest (I've reviewed far too many of them to count), but I can't help but be blindly excited for Zoolander 2. I'm sure it's going to do the things I always criticize like relying on the sam...

Jennifer Lawrence leaving X-Men after Apocalypse

Now that Jennifer Lawrence is a huge Hollywood star, she's ready to leave her more embarrassing roles behind. Haha, no I'm sure that's not the case. With heavy hitters like Oscar Isaac joining the cast of the next X-Men seque...

First look at Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

He sure looks bald. The skinhead look isn't doing him any favors.  Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice apparently releases March next year. [via EW]

Russo Bros apparently directing both Avengers: Infinity War films

With Avengers: Age of Ultron only a month away, it's time to care about the films we'll be getting forever away from now! According to Badass Digest, who has gotten the info from an un-identified source so take it with some s...

Latest Fantastic Four poster reminds you it's about comic books

While I dug the first teaser trailer for Fant4stic, I'll admit that it was far and away from the goofy comics the Fantastic Four are famous for. Choosing to avoid highlighting the group's comic booky powers and leaning toward...

Captain America: Civil War gets a synopsis

With Avengers: Age of Ultron releasing soon, it's time to look toward future hype regardless of whether or not that sequel succeeds. I mean, it's going to financially succeed but it might stink worse than two skunks in a dirt...

First official trailer for Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation

First things first. Christopher McQuarrie's Mission: Impossible 5, featuring the incredibly awesome and incredibly real high flying plane stunt, is now officially titled Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation. Secondly, this trail...

Box Office Numbers: Insurgency, Schmensurgency

I haven't been to the theater in quite awhile. This job usually affords me the opportunity, but due to some life stuff I haven't even seen the inside of a theater for about two months now. But thankfully, this is all during M...

First trailer for The Transporter Refueled is re-diculous

I totally forgot this was a thing that was happening. I remember seeing rumblings of a Transporter reboot trilogy, but I could've sworn it was a far away idea. Either way we're stuck with this low rent Jason Statham, and try...

First trailer for military dog film Max

I'm a sucker for a good dog movie. That goes double for sad dog movies, or movies about dogs that go on journeys. So this trailer for Max lumps all of that together, and I'm positive I'll be a blubbering mess after watching ...

This Avengers: Age of Ultron TV spot is better than the trailers

While the Avengers: Age of Ultron trailers have been hit and miss (no one's exactly chomping at the bit for that 29 hour marathon), but I'm sure Marvel doesn't really care how they advertise this anyway. Like if the only way...

Review: Ana Maria in Novela Land

It's been a tough time for Latino representation in pop culture. While television has made great strides in casting Latino actors in non-traditional roles to show off a greater range of characterization beyond "gang banger" a...

Newest Ex Machina trailer looks fantastic

I'm the kind of jerk that always has to make some sort of "Mr. Roboto" reference every time I see a film with an advanced robot or artificial intelligence, but Ex Machina is the first film in quite a while to make me second ...

Flix for (Not So) Short: Wrestling Isn't Wrestling

Regardless of your feelings toward Max Landis' work (last seen in Chronicle), the guy can put together an interesting, and informative pop culture video. The last time we saw one of his videos, he took on the famous Death of...

First full trailer for Insidious: Chapter 3

I couldn't stop laughing at Insidious: Chapter Three's first teaser because a girl figures out she's living in a haunted house through her T-Mobile Sidekick. While I'm resisting that urge right now thanks to a competently pu...

First trailer for Lazer Team, the most funded film in Indiegogo history

I've never heard of Lazer Team, but the film has quite a huge following. Rooster Teeth (most know for sets of webseries like RWBY and Red vs. Blue) has released the trailer for their first film, and it looks pretty good. Cro...

First trailer for Skin Trade starring Dolph Lundgren and Tony Jaa

Dolph Lundgren was that one action star that should've been as big as Stallone, Schwarzenegger, or Van Damme but just never took off for some reason. He starred in as many films as those three, he always gives 100% regardles...
