Wong Kar Wai's The Grandmasters is still shootingAfter 2.5 years, Wong Kar-Wai is still shooting his Yip Man biopic The Grandmasters. Yeah: two-and-a-half years! The people over at The Playlist picked up on this after co-star Zhang Ziyi posted photos of Wong Kar-Wai's 54th birthday party from the set of the film. Production on The Grandmasters began in December 2009. For some extra perspective, it's worth noting that The Grandmasters was being developed back in 2008 before the Donnie Yen/Wilson Yip film Ip Man was even in production. At this rate, Yen and Yip will have finished Ip Man 3D, Ip Man 4 Life, and Ip Man Flash and the Furious Five before The Grandmasters sells its first ticket. I do really want to see The Grandmasters since I enjoy Wong Kar-Wai's films a lot, though I'm wondering if all these delays will be worth it. The release date is still set for December 18th, 2012. We'll see if that holds in the coming months. [Via The Playlist] Did you know? You can now get daily or weekly email notifications when humans reply to your comments.
