(Update) Atlas Shrugged sequels unlikely, due to sucking

0

Update: It appears that sucking and lack of profit are no barriers to the might of pigheadedness and limitless funding. Super rich guy and producer of the movies John Aglialoro has seemingly contradicted himself and said he's going forward with making parts 2 and 3. Why? To stick it to us critics for telling him his movie sucked. We're all wrong, you see.

Original Story: Atlas Shrugged Part I has a 6% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes. Yikes.

As a result, the producer may well scrap the second and third installments, citing the 'lemming'-like mindset of the critics. John Aglialoro, the sole financier and distributor of the film, has this to say: “Critics, you won. I’m having deep second thoughts on why I should do Part 2… Why should I put up all of that money if the critics are coming like lemmings? I’ll make my money back and I’ll make a profit, but do I wanna go and do two? Maybe I just wanna see my grandkids and go on strike.”

Mr. Aglialoro, maybe if your movie was better, it would have been better reviewed. Our own Glenn Morris gave the film a 3.80, advised readers to avoid it like the plague, and closed with "It’s too much, too fast and delivered cold until the final shot betrays everything before it, making this bargain basement 'part one' out to be Lord of the Rings." Sure, Atlas Shrugged may not be for everyone, but a 6% is hard to argue with. Maybe, if the project is so important to you, you should go ahead and make the latter two movies for you, not for the critics. In any event, the future of the Atlas Shrugged is as grim as the leaky, dark hallways of the Rapture its source material inspired.
