Adventure Time creator brings us a phantasmagoria of adult-oriented weirdness in teaser for The Midnight Gospel

Coming to Netflix

The main draw to Adventure Time for me was always its art style. It was clean, carefree, trippy, and just a bit crude. It often felt like a cartoonish version of a prog rock vinyl sleeve, and I super dug it. The main problem, though, was that I'm an adult man who can only watch shows littered with blood and cursing. How else will I know it's meant for me and not a baby?

Thankfully, this teaser for Netflix's The Midnight Gospel lets you know loud and clear that it's for the blood soaked potty mouths among us.

Coming from Pendelton Ward of Adventure Time fame, I'm super smitten with the glimpse at The Midnight Gospel we get here. It's tapping into that Happy Tree Friends aesthetic of cute-meets-metal, and the psychedelically extraterrestrial imagery is just a blast to look at. Will this be a wonder to watch stoned? Obviously.

The Midnight Gospel will follow space-caster Clancy as he uses a multiverse simulator to interview beings from other worlds. It will premier on Netflix on April 20, 2020.
