Anderson & Baumbach producing new Bogdanovich film

It's been more than 10 years since Peter Bagdanovich's last feature film, The Cat's Meow, but he's coming back with Squirrel to the Nuts. The title functions both as a partial simile and as a description of the worst possible way to die. The new film will be produced by Wes Anderson and Noah Baumbach, and the cast includes Owen Wilson, Olivia Wilde, and Brie Larson. Jason Schwartzman is also interested in a possible role.

Here's the plot according to The Playlist:

...the Bogdanovich-penned tale is about a Broadway director (Wilson), who falls for a hooker-turned-actress (Larson) and uses her services despite being married to the star of the production. He later gives the hooker some money to pursue her dream of an acting career. As for Wilde, she'll play a therapist (presumably to Wilson's character), whose mother is being treated for alcoholism.

The Playlist also notes that The Museum of the Moving Image in NYC will be screening Bogdanovich's Paper Moon in June as part of their Paramount in the 1970s series. (It's one of my favorites, so you'll probably see me there.)

In Wes Anderson related news, you can still catch the last two days of The Museum of the Moving Image's Wes Anderson's Worlds series this weekend. It's your chance to watch The Life Aquatic, The Darjeeling Limited, and Fantastic Mr. Fox on the big screen, each with a special video introduction by Wes Anderson himself.
