Time to showdown with Disney

If a report by Bloomberg is to be believed, Apple's contribution to the hodgepodge of video streaming platforms will launch sometime in November of this year. Apple TV+ will reportedly launch the same month as Disney's own Disney+ streaming service, but I'm willing to bet that there will be more content for consumers on the latter platform.

According to the report, Apple is looking at a $9.99 monthly price for their platform, a bit hefty compared to the $6.99 a month offering from Disney+. While we know about quite a lot of original programming that will be included in Apple TV+, it is unknown what else the service will include to justify that price. With that in mind, it's helpful to know that Apple is reportedly set to offer a free trial at some point.

If that won't convince people, the report also mentions that Apple is contemplating offering the first three episodes of select programs, followed by weekly episode releases for subscribers. This would differ from the release models of Netflix and Prime Video, both who which generally release all episodes of a television show season at once. Otherwise, I would imagine that Apple TV apps would instead be populated by anything from their Apple TV Channel subscriptions.

It'll be yet another premium subscription service from Apple, with other new services including Apple Arcade and Apple News+. Couple that with Apple Music and iCloud, and you have a lot of money to spend if you're deep into the Apple ecosystem. Hopefully for those folks, Apple will one day let their customers bundle those together in a special deal.

For now, be sure to check out the trailers for Apple TV+ programs like For All Mankind and The Morning Show.
