Avengers: Endgame character posters have a lot of characters

Everyone looks sad

If there's anything to admire about the Avengers: Endgame marketing campaign, it's the lack of action and the focus on character. You can chalk that up to the intense secrecy that is always involved in Marvel Studios projects, but the fact that we haven't even see anyone exchange punches yet is a fresh of breath air. Enter the new character posters, which look like something from an artsy magazine cover shoot.

The actors involved in the film posted their own individual posters on their social media, though Marvel conveniently put them all together in one Twitter thread. Each poster has a different MCU character looking all brooding, and looking to the left—except for Scott Lang and Carol Danvers, who need to get with the program. The posters are a bit more revealing than one may initially think—notice the colors:

Wait for it.

As you can gather, all of the characters in black-and-white are super deadzo. More than in the previous films, those Avengers have a lot more avenging to do. This appears to be an indirect confirmation that Shuri (Letitia Wright) has perished due to the events of Avengers: Infinity War, thus ruining my hopes that an angry Shuri would have taken the mantle of Black Panther for this film.

Alive and well is Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson) from Thor: Ragnarok, who was unseen in the opening of Infinity War. Though Thompson's name isn't in the official Endgame poster (which even includes Jon Favreau and Gwyneth Paltrow, who also have their own character posters), we can assume from here that Thor's fellow Revenger will make her grand comeback here.

The world is still waiting for Avengers: Endgame tickets to be up for sale, with the film premiering on April 26. Revisit the latest trailer, which I did indeed watch, here.
