Bill Hader and Will Forte are joining Ghostbusters 3?

Apparently Ghostbusters 3 has begun casting already. That is, at least, according to a casting announcement put out by Sony Pictures. The announcement gives away a lot of interesting details about the perennially rumored third installment.

Consider this new film to be Ghostbusters 3: The New Batch. While Harold Ramis and Dan Aykroyd will be reprising their roles, the focus appears to have shifted to a new crew of Ghostbusters. Sony is rumored to be eyeing younger comedy staples like Will Forte and Bill Hader, because apparently, comedy legends like Aykroyd and Bill Murray (who still has not decided on his involvement in the sequel) have no appeal to anyone under 30.

As an interesting note, the casting announcement does mention Aykroyd as a “character writer” prominently, while the actually screenplay credit is buried near the bottom. Those writers are Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky, the duo responsible for Year One. Anna Faris is also rumored to be involved. So let’s all just remain cautiously optimistic, shall we?
