Birds of Prey fails to take off at the box office

Box office roundup

I'm pretty certain that folks over at Warner Bros. are none too pleased about the recent performance of their latest DCEU vehicle, Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn), also known as just Birds of Prey. The movie was expected to take in anywhere between $50-55 million in its opening weekend, but it barely managed to take in two thirds of that, closing at an underwhelming $33,000,000. While it's still too early to call doom and gloom for the Harley solo feature, given that it had a relatively smaller budget compared to other DCEU movies, it's still far and away the lowest opening for a DCEU movie, with last year's Shazam! holding the previous low of $53 million its opening weekend.

Outside of that, the rest of the box office remained the same as before. Bad Boys For Life dropped to number 2, but has still made $166 million domestically total, continuing its domination of the box office, while several other major Oscar nominees still tracked well, with 1917 and Little Women holding the numbers 3 and 9 respectively.

1. Birds of Prey - $33,250,000
2. Bad Boys For Life - $12,005,000
3. 1917 - $9,000,000
4. Dolittle - $6,660,000
5. Jumanji: The Next Level - $5,530,000
6. The Gentleman - $4,180,000
7. Gretel and Hansel - $3,510,659
8. Knives Out - $2,350,000
9. Little Women - $2,325,000
10. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker - $2,226,000
