Box Office Numbers: All hails the mighty LEGO

The LEGO Movie didn’t face much stiff competition this week, but it still pulled in a whopping amount beating out both new releases and pulling in more money than many films make in their entire run. Looks like word of mouth is really helping this one out as people are realizing that the film is more than the sum of its parts and not just a LEGO shill.

3 Days to Kill opened in second, and didn’t pull much attention, but I don’t think anyone thought it would. The big flop of the week is Pompeii, which made a measly $10 million and can resoundingly be called a flop. In happier news Frozen  is still in the top ten and just busted its way into the top 20 domestic gross of all time. Well deserved.
