Box Office Numbers: Hallowinners

The polarizing Cloud Atlas debuted this week with a solid $9.4m, which was only $500k less than the second place film, Hotel Transylvania. Argo, surprisingly, has been spreading around through word of mouth, raking in a monstrous $12.3m in ticket sales, despite having been out for a few weeks now. While it’ll probably attain a few Oscar nominations, I don’t foresee it actually winning many…

But more importantly, my personal favorite holiday was celebrated this past weekend. While I’m not a big fan of dressing up in costumes, I love going to parties full of people dressed up in creative costumes. As you can see in the header, my friend Liz and her boyfriend Cory dressed up as Barbara and Adam Maitland from Beetlejuice. They basically won Halloween, hands down… or even second place to my awesome Pokemon Trainer costume.

If any of you dressed up in any movie-related costumes, email some pictures to me at geoffrey[at]flixist.com. I’ll post some of them up next week (and there might even be a prize or two for the best ones).
