Box Office Numbers: WTF R.I.P.D.? OMG! LOL!

Peter Chris from Kiss would have made Green Latern slightly better (still awful)

There were four new releases last week, though none of which was a hyped-up tentpole. In the end it was The Conjuring that took the top slot. Despicable Me 2 held tough with a respectable second place, while Turbo just edged out Grown Ups 2 for third. (Seriously, America, stop giving your money to Adam Sandler, at least until he puts some actual effort into his movies.)

The big news was R.I.P.D., which was a total POS at the BO and couldn't TCB. (Had to avoid the overused "DOA" pun.) The film, which is basically MIB w/ ghosts, debuted at #7 behind Pacific Rim, making it this week's Lone Ranger (aka cinematic VD). Maybe it was bad PR, but I'd like to think US audiences are sick of BS like R.I.P.D. and want studios to change their MOs. Personally, I'm so sick I need an RN, or at least some R & R at a delightful B & B with triple-decker BLTs and fresh-squeezed OJ.

Oh, and apparently Red 2 came out.
