Brightburn Trailer scares the hell out of some children

Someone's getting a talking to for this

Peppa Pig

Do you know Peppa Pig?

I had to look up this child-friendly cartoon to fully understand the gravity of what was unleashed upon children in a UK theater this past weekend. The Peppa Pig movie is rated as universal in the UK, which is comparable to our G. If you walked into a G rated movie and say trailers for Brightburn and Ma came on-screen beforehand, what do you think that may do to the children? Scare the living hell out of them? Make them cry? The answers to both of this is a very big yes.

Children in a UK cinema were treated to these trailers for R rated movies before their colorful and family-friendly romp. The children were understandably upset and parents were furious. The parents reacted by removing their children from the theaters once they realized these were not the usual things companies put before something like Peppa Pig: Festival of Fun. That is unless they were trying to scar some children and if so, mission accomplished. The movie theater has released this statement:

“As soon as the staff on site were made aware of the situation, the program was stopped and trailers were taken off-screen immediately. We do sincerely apologize for this and for any distress caused and will be reviewing our internal procedures to ascertain how this came to be.”

This could be some bad publicity for the movie theater in question, but it does prove that these trailers have nailed the tone they are looking for. Brightburn looks to be an unsettling and dark reflection of what we are used to with our Supermanesque figures and Ma, well let's just say that Octavia Spencer can bring some menace when she wants to. Either way, those children will likely remember those movies for a long long time.
