Cartoon Network’s Victor & Valentino pilot is perfect for Day of the Dead

It’s a good time to be a cartoon fan. Now that Cartoon Network is currently experiencing a second quality boom following Adventure Time and Regular Show, they’ve been giving all sorts of creators unique opportunities to showcase their work. But unlike their big successes like Steven Universe, The Amazing World of Gumball, and We Bare Bears, there have been some good ideas that need more attention. Case in point is their latest pilot, Victor & Valentino

Diego Molano’s Victor & Valentino is an animated short that follows the two titular boys on their ghostly adventures in Monte Macabre, Mexico. It’s like a Mexican culture inspired Gravity Falls, and it’s honestly one of the coolest cartoons I’ve seen lately. The designs are great, the colors are rich, and this short is just plain fun. In terms of representation, I’d love for this pilot to somehow get a full TV series, but failing that I’ll take more web shorts. Either way, I just want more.

You’ve got a huge idea on your hands, Cartoon Network. Don’t let it slip away.
