Celebrities are about to get fabulous when RuPaul’s Celebrity Drag Race premiere’s next year

RuPaul has done a tremendous job in shining a light on the LGBTQ community with his show Drag Race. A contest all about cross-dressing, it’s never been played as a gag or with a snicker. This is a legitimate competition about highlighting how to make yourself look fabulous, even if you happen to go against societal expectations. Now, celebrities are about to get in on the race.

VH1 announced yesterday that RuPaul’s Celebrity Drag Race is set to premiere in 2020 on the network. Each episode will feature three different celebrities attempting to have the best drag transformation with the help of RuPaul’s “queens.” No celebrity casting has been revealed, though VH1 noted that all prize money will be donated to the winner’s charity.

In a statement to press, RuPaul said, “Doing drag does not change who you are, it reveals who you are. I can’t wait for the world to see what happens when our celebrity contestants get all up in drags!” To that end, I can’t wait to see which celebrities take their turn down the catwalk.
