Clear your February for Better Call Saul's return

0

Who ya gonna call?

Confirming such with the brief teaser above, AMC has announced the return date for everyone's favorite lawyer-turned-crooked-lawyer, Jimmy McGill, or: Saul Goodman.

The Breaking Bad spin-off's fifth season will make its premiere on February 23, 2020, a Sunday. The following day the season's second episode will play in its regularly-scheduled Monday evening slot.

AMC's official description of the season is as follows:

In the 10-epsiode fifth season of “Better Call Saul,” Jimmy McGill’s (Odenkirk) decision to practice law as “Saul Goodman” creates unexpected and profound waves of change for those in his orbit.

Can. Not. Wait. I've said it before, but I will champion--any day of the week--Better Call Saul as the best thing on television. For how much longer though? Remains to be seen.

Series co-creator, alongside Vince Gilligan, Peter Gould spoke vaguely on the future of the series back when Saul's fourth season wrapped, calling the show "closer to the end." AMC's former entertainment president David Madden spoke similarly of the series' eventual conclusion, though seemed confident that the fifth season wouldn't be the final. “Safe to say Season 5 will not be the end. How much longer it goes past Season 5? It’s in Peter and Vince’s hands."

One wonders then if we could either see a full-fledged sixth season, or an El Caminoesque feature film to cap the show off. It worked pretty well for Breaking Bad! While we wait, why not take a peek at some of the first official images for Better Call Saul's fifth season?

With Jimmy (Bob Odenkirk) ending the fourth season "more Saul" than ever and lovably-gruff fixer Mike (Jonathan Banks) sinking deeper into New Mexico's criminal enterprises, the bridge between Saul and Bad is growing shorter. The excellent Rhea Seahorn returns as Karen, who grows increasingly exasperated by Jimmy's criminal tendencies, and Michael Mando as Nacho, whose work for the cartel is... well, anything but fun.

Stay tuned for more on Better Call Saul.
