Composer John Williams admits he's never actually watched a finished Star Wars movie

Robots and laser swords or something

John Williams has written some of the most iconic film scores of all time, including music for Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Jurassic Park, Harry Potter, and Superman. Whether or not he's seen the movies he's scored is another story, though.

In an interview with The Mirror, Williams said that he hasn't actually sat down to watch a Star Wars movie after working on it. Ever.

I let it go. I have not looked at the Star Wars films and that’s absolutely true.

When I’m finished with a film, I’ve been living with it, we’ve been dubbing it, recording to it, and so on. You walk out of the studio and, 'Ah, it’s finished.'

Now I don’t have an impulse to go to the theater and look at it. Maybe some people find that weird, or listen to recordings of my music very, very rarely.

Keep in mind that to score a movie, Williams has to watch the music-less film and various scenes/sequences in bits and pieces several times over. It makes sense that the last thing he wants to watch is something he's probably seen up to a dozen or more times.

Come to think of it, Jim Jarmusch has never seen a Star Wars movie either. Clearly John Williams is just Jim Jarmusch in disguise. Or it could be the other way around. Makes you think, doesn't it?

Maybe John Williams' first Star Wars movie will be Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which was scored in four-and-a-half weeks by Michael Giacchino. Or one of those Ewok ones from the 80s.

One thing's for sure, he won't be watching Rian Johnson's Episode VIII.
