Crawl is going to be rated R, thank god

Bring on the "bloody creature violence!"

I'm very excited for Alexandre Aja's Crawl. It's been a while since we had an alligator horror movie to be excited about, and Aja's The Hills Have Eyes reboot is one of the very best remakes ever committed to film. The only question that remained was whether or not this project would release as toothless as The Meg with the studio chasing a PG-13 rating, that way people could take their kids to see it.

Thankfully we have the answer, and it's a resounding "No!" The much too powerful MPAA is going to bestow Crawl with an R rating for "bloody creature violence and brief language." So, not only will alligators chew people to bloody bits, but someone might even drop an f-bomb. Exciting!

This is some great news, especially since making a movie PG-13, so kids can see it is the dumbest reason to make something PG-13. For starters, the MPAA can just make a movie R-rated if they think it's too scary or something dumb like that. Also, kids can totally watch R-rated movies. I saw nothing but R-rated movies when I was a kid, and I turned out fine.

I'm very happy that this summer I'll be able to watch alligators chow down on screaming victims trapped inside a hurricane. I wouldn't want to spend it any other way.
