Critics Choice Awards release their nominations

The big boys are rolling in. We got the nominations for the Golden Globes the other day, with a few surprises and now the Critics Choice Awards have released theirs. The CCA have been growing in popularity since they started televising their event, and it’s actually one of the better awards since it’s voted on by the people who sit down and watch every movie unlike some other awards shows *ahem* Oscars *ahem*.

There’s actually not too much surprising below as most of the big nominations are what we expected and in line with what we’ve been seeing. Birdman netted 13 nominations with The Grand Budapest Hotel pulling in 11. Aside from that it’s good to see love for Guardians of the Galaxy, The Babadook and Edge of Tomorrow even if they are just genre nominations. Those three are some of the most fun you can have at theaters so nominations anywhere are great.
