Disenchantment first trailer really wants you to remember Matt Groening's previous work

Same art style, different time period

The Simpsons doesn't appear to be slowing down any time soon, while Futurama is unfortunately still dead in the water—but the mind of Matt Groening will be taking us on an adventure to a different time period with Netflix's Disenchantment

Like how The Simpsons is a take on suburban sitcoms and Futurama is a satirical math and sci-fi-heavy depiction of our possible future, Disenchantment looks to be a twisted, adult version of a fairy tale. Led by young alcoholic princess Bean (Abbi Jacobson), this show takes place in Dreamland (no, not the Kirby location) and features Bean's companions, an elf named Elfo (Nat Faxon) and her "personal demon" Luci (Eric Andre). Futurama fans may notice John DiMaggio as Bean's father in the above trailer.

The brief trailer doesn't show much, and it depends on your attachment to Groening's previous work—we'll have to see soon if Disenchantment will live up to its predecessors when its first ten episodes streams on Netflix on August 17.
