Disney is hoping to get Taika Waititi to direct a Star Wars film

And I'm not Thor about it

Taika Waititi is a busy man. He released my favorite film of 2019, Jojo Rabbit. He is slated to direct Thor 4, and at some point he's hoping to direct a live action adaptation of Akira. He's about to start directing Next Goal Wins. And now it seems that Disney and Lucasfilm are trying to hire him as director for a Star Wars film, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

If you somehow don't recognize the man's name, you'll likely recognize some of his work. He directed my 3rd-favorite film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Thor: Ragnarok. He masterfully deconstructed and re-examined the entire character of Thor. He brought a lot of pathos and levity to a film that desperately needed it.

Most recently, Taika directed the impeccable season 1 finale of The Mandalorian. He now has real experience with Star Wars. I think it makes perfect sense to put him in charge of an entire film. I really hope he directs Kevin Feige's  Star Wars project.
