Disney isn't planning on bringing MCU Spider-Man films to Disney+

What the f%*$?

Despite Disney+ being a compendium of practically everything tangentially related to the company, there's a few odd omissions from its massive lineup. The most glaring of films left out happen to be both Spider-Man: Homecoming and Spider-Man: Far From Home. Co-productions between Marvel and Sony, it looks like contractual agreements are what is keeping Disney from having it currently available. Sadly, Disney isn't interested in figuring out the tangled web of copyrights that is holding these films back.

Disney's head of content and marketing for Disney+, Ricky Strauss, told The Verge, "We love our friends at Sony, but we don't have any plans to have the live-action Spider-Man movies on Disney+." Disney does have all of the animated shows on the service and isn't completely ruling out bringing them aboard. It mainly just doesn't have the desire to deal with their absence right now.

It's likely similar to why some other Marvel films are conspicuously absent from Disney+. Netflix had previously entered an agreement with the house of mouse to be the exclusive streamer of its vast library. When Disney entered the streaming game, certain contracts were in effect until the end of 2019. Sony likely has a similar contract in writing that is stopping Spidey from making the leap.

At any rate, don't get your hopes up for seeing Spider-Man on Disney+ anytime soon.
