Disney moves up European launch date for Disney+

0

Disney can't wait!

While Americans have been experiencing Disney+ for a few months now, the rest of the world hasn't been as cursed lucky. Europe, in particular, is still a few months off from getting the service, but a recent date change has brought the launch closer to reality.

Disney announced that its Disney+ streaming service will now be launching on March 24, 2020 (a week earlier than its original March 31 date). Pricing will be set at £5.99/€6.99 per month or £59.99/€69.99 for an annual subscription. This is in contrast to Netflix's £5.99 monthly fee, which makes Disney+ the more attractive option.

Disney hasn't commented on why the date change happened, but it likely has to do with business partners getting ready for the launch. Maybe something changed over the last few months and European ISPs are now better equipped to handle streaming. Maybe Disney took a look at its insane US subscription numbers and realized it shouldn't be leaving money on the table overseas. Who can say?

We just know it is coming sooner. I guess we can all cheer for corporations making more money.
