Disney+'s Loki series may feature Captain America

Puny god!

Avengers: Endgame directors Joe and Anthony Russo are teasing that the upcoming Loki series on Disney+ may contain Captain America in some capacity. The hint came from a new interview with Business Insider where the duo added that the series may take place during a particular moment that happens in Endgame. If so, that would certainly be an interesting wrinkle to add to the Marvel lore.

I obviously cannot talk about this without Endgame spoilers, so this is your only warning to back out if you've somehow not seen the film.

In all of the time traveling wackiness that Endgame contains, there is a moment during the Avengers' quest to recollect the Infinity Stones where past Loki makes off with the Time Stone. That seemingly goes nowhere, though, since Loki doesn't reappear in the finale. What does occur is that Captain America ends up returning all of the Infinity Stones to their proper places in time, then stays back with Peggy Carter to live out his life.

What the Russo brothers are proposing is that Loki will take place during this period. The series will likely be the escapades of Tom Hiddleston's Loki as he evades Captain America throughout different time periods. Joe Russo even said as much, telling Business Insider, "Loki, when he teleports away with the Time Stone, would create his own timeline. It gets very complicated, but it would be impossible for [Cap] to rectify the timeline unless he found Loki. The minute that Loki does something as dramatic as take the Space Stone, he creates a branched reality."

That was one of the main plot points in Endgame. For the Avengers to succeed in their mission of reverting "The Decimation" and not create branching paths, they had to return all of the stones to when they were taken. Loki making off with the Time Stone throws a wrench in that plan, though opens the door for this series.

This also lines up with the multiverse that is potentially coming in Spider-Man: Far From Home. With Marvel seemingly ready to jump into explaining that convoluted nonsense to audiences, why not let the literal god of mischief play around with it? "We're dealing with this idea of multiverses and branched realities, so there are many realities," Anthony Russo stated, basically agreeing with me.

So whenever Loki does hit Disney+, get ready to see not only the return of Tom Hiddleston but Chris Evans as well.
