Downton Abbey teaser just wants to make sure you know it's a movie

Nice to see the building, I guess

I fell off the Downton Abbey bandwagon somewhere in the second to last season. I hated that Dan Stevens was gone and, honestly, the plot was getting thin. That is to say that I have no idea if a movie is actually needed or not, but we're getting one and Focus Features really wants you to know that it's in movie theaters, not on PBS. The new teaser for the film, as teasers are wont to do, lacks pretty much anything that would hint at what the film is about.

Obviously, things are in an early stage with the film, but I don't know how this teaser would get anyone but the most die-hard of fans excited for it. I do like the take on the theme but, again, it doesn't swell any real emotion. It will be interesting to see where they take the show, especially if I actually go back and finish off all the season. Did it end on a cliffhanger where it turned out that they were all aliens bent on world dominations and the movie is going to be about how earth rises up against their evil plan?

Downton Abbey will release on September 20, 2019.
