By Well this was unexpected. Captain Underpants was one of my favorite comics as a child, and for some reason Dreamworks Animation has decided it’s due for a film adaptation. Written by Nicholas Stoller (The Muppets) and directed by Rob Letterman (Monsters vs. Aliens), there’s some decent talent at the helm, so maybe this will actually be decent. But it’s just so… stupid. I mean, I found it funny in elementary school, but I doubt it would hold up much after that. If Dreamworks is going for the 8+ audience, this is the wrong franchise to take on.
Even so, I’ll probably go see it, because nostalgia, but only if it’s 2D. If it’s not 2D (or at least fake 2D like most 2D shows nowadays), I will never acknowledge its existence, because that’s awful.
I also want everyone to get a stupid nametag along with each ticket, because that would be funny.
