Early test footage for Who Framed Roger Rabbit? is very, very different

Before Disney’s (through its Touchstone Pictures studio) Who Framed Roger Rabbit? lit up screens with the only time you’ll find Mickey Mouse, Bugs Bunny, and Bob Hoskins share the same screen in 1988, Disney tried to adapt Gary K. Wolf’s novel, Who Censored Roger Rabbit? just five years earlier and the result is quite different.

Thanks to this video featuring lost test footage, we’re now discovering Disney once had a take on the film that starred Paul Reubens as the titular rabbit, Mike Gabriel as Eddie Valiant and Russi Taylor as Jessica. It’s not bad looking, but I’m glad for the version we eventually got.

The ten year old me more so
