Everything goes to hell in the trailer for Preacher's final season

It's the end of the world as we know it

You know your trailer is good when it starts off with a resurrected Adolf Hitler playing piano for an inbred Jesus Christ. In what has felt like an eternity, we finally received the first trailer before Preacher's final season, which is expected to air in just two weeks. Like most fans, I was a bit worried about the quality of the show given the silence by AMC for its final season, but it looks like my fears have been safely put to rest.

At the Preacher panel at San Diego Comic-Con, creator Seth Rogen took to the stage to talk about the show, but also to naturally answer any questions regarding Game of Thrones since David Benioff and David Weiss couldn't attend their panel, so naturally, Rogen volunteered himself to answer any and all questions thrust upon him. One of the highlights from that barrage of questions being how the show progressively become more insane. How off the rails is this season? Evan Goldberg, another showrunner for the series, sent a note to the VFX department to add buttholes to their dinosaurs. There's no getting off this crazy train now.

As for the trailer itself, as we suspected, it looks like it's going to be a remix of the Masada arc, the second major arc of the comic, with hints of the Monument Valley arc sprinkled it. Cassidy is being held by the Grail and it's up to Tulip and Jesse to free him, but God, Herr Starr, the Saint of Killers, and now I guess Hitler, are going to stop them at all costs. There's even an appearance by pure scum of the Earth Jesus de Sade, a sexual deviant of epic proportions.

By this point, if you're not already on the Preacher bandwagon, this won't do the trick. There's a reason though that Preacher has such a rabid fanbase. It's a show that does not give a single damn if you're offended or if it's too weird for you. It's probably one of the best shows on TV now and it'll be sad to see it go, though Rogen reassures us that the show was always meant to be four seasons and this was the ending that they wanted. These two weeks cannot go by fast enough.

Preacher's final season will air on AMC August 4, 2019.
