First look at the rest of Wonder Woman's Amazonians

0

But will she spin in a circle?

With Batman v Superman landing this weekend (review coming soon, but it's not so great) DC has introduced the cinematic world to Wonder Woman and that means that we can start seeing more of her upcoming solo film. Bits and pieces have come out focusing on Wonder Woman herself, but now we have our first look at the other Amazonian immortals in the film.

We get our first look at Diana’s mother, Queen Hippolyta (Connie Nielsen), and her two military aunts – General Antiope (Robin Wright) and Antiope’s lieutenant, Menalippe (Lisa Loven Kongsli). Since the film is an origin story it makes sense we will be seeing plenty of Themyscira, the all woman island where Diana (Wonder Woman) is raised, along with the WWII setting of the movie.

I like the look of the outfits and they look damn kickass overall. You may notice that they're wearing heels to fight in, a hold over from the comic books that director Patty Jenkins defends.

“It’s total wish-fulfillment,” she says, adding that the warriors have flats for heavy fighting. “I, as a woman, want Wonder Woman to be hot as hell, fight badass, and look great at the same time – the same way men want Superman to have huge pecs and an impractically big body. That makes them feel like the hero they want to be. And my hero, in my head, has really long legs.”

Hey, if it works for a mere mortal in Jurassic World why can't it work for an island of female gods?
