First official poster for Spike Lee's Oldboy is sketchy

"Sketchy." Get it?

As we get closer to Oldboy's October release date, more and more information will begin to trickle across our monitors, like official production images, trailers, posters, and what Spike Lee was thinking when he thought it'd be a good idea to remake such a beloved film. Well... maybe not that last bit, but everything else will come around.

Recently, the official poster for the film was released, and with it, a minor detail change between the remake and the original is reflected. Instead of the fifteen years Joe Doucett (Josh Brolin)'s Korean counterpart Oh Dae-su (Choi Min-sik) spent in captivity, he had an extra five years added to his involuntary incarceration. You must be asking yourself, "Why was such an arbitrary change even made?" My own speculation leads to the secret reveal in the original, which could be given more credence with another five years added. I'm being vague on purpose so nothing's spoiled, of course.

Regardless, everybody should see Oldboy this October when it's released in theaters. Whether it's watched with anticipation or dread, however, is solely up to the individual.
